Just stumbled upon this ad - Click here to see on Ebay.de and can't seem to find anything about it. Did Contax make such (special edition or what) lenses or is this just a custom paint job? _________________ Toni,

They certainly made some golden Contax RTS SLRs, so I guess they made the lenses to go with them too! _________________ Graham - Moderator

Yes they did ..
It was limited edition..
I do not really like cameras and lenses in gold but Contax is probably one exception -- even more - I like it too much

To my eyes, a handsome lens, although others may disagree.
Haven't I seen a boxed set of, was it VIVITAR's?, in similar vein on this forum before? I seem to recall that that they were noted as being inferior quality optically, although obviously very showy externally? |

I've seen YASHICA ML 2.8/35mm reaching increasingly high prices. Was it somewhere mentioned it's the same lens perhaps? _________________ ---------------------------------

I've tried to search for some info on the net a while ago, but haven't found anything conclusive. Supposedly the ML 28 and 35 and Distagons 28 and 35 were made in the same factory, but I didn't find anything confirming that they have the same optical design. I'd like to know more too.
btw. I recently got the ML 28/2.8 and it's a solid performer, but in my opinion the Zuiko 28/3.5 is much better in corners, which leaves me thinking whether the Distagon is similar to ML or not... _________________ Toni,

I'll try to find the shots taken with the 28ML and 28CZ. From what I remember, the Contax lens was slightly sharper but had a different rendering...better contrast and warmer. Didn't realise the optical schemes were so similar, but there are obviously still differences, especially with the coating. _________________ Graham - Moderator
