Seems quite an underappreciated lens but it has a lot going for it. Constant f4 aperture is useful. Compact (49mm filter thread) and handles well along with good sharpness and contrast. Photos taken on a Pentax K-x.

Lens is capable of being very very sharp, the second photo is a crop, certainly outresolves this sensor. Colours have Pentax richness and really I don't know how I would replace it for a medium telezoom while keeping the F4 aperture and the small size.

Just noticed this thread and indeed after initial tests of only close up and for short distances under 15ft........this is a very good zoom.
