No, it doesn't exist. Wink
I made one, with the extension tubes.
The results are quite amazing!

Shot at f/8 400 ISO with the 5D, hand held (too lazy to set up a tripod)
Even at f/8 the DOF is super narrow, the rest is bokeh - BUT WHAT BOKEH for a f/8!

Helios-44M-Macro: the "ARTISTIC MACRO" lens??? Very Happy

Wide open, the DOF is some fraction of a millimeter. The rest is TOTAL BOKEH - of the creamy puffy type:

I love these extension tubes! Quite a bunch of fun for a 8.50 Eur! Smile

Nice results. I'll give it a try if I get some macro rings.

Some german sellers try to make money with this combination. Í see this often on ebay without mentioning the lens or only very small in the description. Together with a few very good images - and so this combination goes by for very high prices. Much more than Helios and extension ring alone.

Dont forget to look for a reverse adapter!

the result is mazing, even with the rings

Lovely pictures, but are they from the Hubble telescope looking at the surface of Mars, or an electron microscope looking at a fly's eye? Smile

Nice images, Orio!
Shooting with such a narrow DoF is not easy.

That's right. I once have seen a Pentacon 50mm lens with a distance ring going for € 100,- !!! That's crazy!

It's a pine cone of Pinus pinea (Italian Stone Pine). Smile

I am really pleased by the result and you know why?
I expected the lens to lose something of its wonderful roundness of detail when focused so close, but no - the Helios-44 remains every inch as smooth and gorgeous close up as it is normally focused.

(as you know, all lenses except those with floating elements can not perform well at very different focusing points)

Tomorrow if the rain allows I will try the tubes with the Volna-9.
I will use only one tube because the VOlna is already a macro lens - optimized for closeup.
So I really expect the top of the top performance!

Without tubes it can only reach 1:2
So the tubes will turn it into something closer to a 1:1

I estimate Volna will be a clear winner , much sharper than Helios, let we see!
