i've had this lens for months, only just now getting to use it, from today

when the adapter arrived, to mount it on my Panasonic G1

its full title is Nikon Nikkor-S.C 1:1.4 f=5 cm Nippon Kogaku Japan No.330048

all-silver, quite-good condition, feels solid, no slop .. how old is it ?

1950 or thereabouts, yeah, but im having trouble being exact

http://www.photosynthesis.co.nz/nikon/serialno.html should have it? doesnt seem right

Is the paint on the ring that worn or is that just grime? Looks nice anyway...

I'm no expert, but I'd guess this is an early-to-mid 1950's lens. It's listed in your link, click on the "RF 5cm" link at the top of the page to take you down the page to get you in the ballpark.

For what it's worth, Ken Rockwell

hm, yeah, ken rockwell

me, i like Dante Stella on this lens http://www.dantestella.com/technical/nikoleic.html#5014

ah, cool, didnt see that RF bit at the top, gets me in the ballpark, cheers

maybe 1953 .. close enough for rock'n'roll

no grimes on this mate, its bin used but it wasnt too hard of a life

bought it from a seller in Japan

bought a cheap digital m43 body for it

but then i took ages deciding which adapter to go for

heh, so am i, and its going to stay stuck to this camera until i do

i do need time to get used to it

its such a wellmade 'piece of thing' .. mechanically all working smoothly, as fast as it ever was

it still needs getting accustomed-to .. its not as 'foreign' as a Leitz .. quite

the aperture ring is just in front of the focussing ring and feels similar, its very easy to error

i'd really like to get Canon RF 50mm f1.4 just for comparison like, in LTM tho, simpler adapterring

it looks easier to use/operate

The images did strike me as a bit on the dark side upon initially viewing them, but as the eye settles in (assuming one allows the time to do that) the bright areas kick in too.

Anyway, I don't look at the brightness level as a lens issue and these just look like test shots to me.
