So I've been retired for month and FINALLY have a bit of time to dink with little problem projects. The breech mount on the early series FD lenses is known to be fussy and problematic. I don't find any info on this particular problem though. It is a Canon brand cap and the breech lock that does not move even with considerable force. I imagine the mechanism that locks it in place when the lens is unmounted is malfunctioning somehow. Anybody got suggestions?

Sorry, no help for your FD-mount cap issue. But the reason why you turned to it sounds rather relaxing. Wish you a happy beginning of the new stage of your life!

Probably not relevant, but I remember a similar scenario a few years ago with a Nikon lens … ended up I was trying to turn it the wrong way!!
