Good looking results!
Is it the M42 Tomioka?

How close did that bird let you get? That looks pretty close for a 55mm.

I have one too, and among my fifties is the one I like more. Partly because it's the only 1.4 I own, partly because it behaves well, partly because mechanically seems very well made, robust and smooth.

Are those shots made with the e520? That's gorgeous! How did you process them?

yes, those were made with e520.
i usually adjust levels if needed, then contrast and at last minimal amount of unsharp mask

You are just entering the slippery slope Smile. I looked in my files and I already have 13 50mm lenses, and 18 if I add 52-58mm range. And now he puts up this...

I own this lens and I need to get better with it. Those shot are very nice!

The problem with the 50s is that they are widely available and generally very cheap.
I'm always on a tight budget but the curiosity to try out a lens is always very strong.

Dunno if there was too much sharpening involved but if not this is probably the sharpest 1.4 I've seen. I have a "Super Reflecta" which supposedly is also a Tomioka clone, I don't think it gets this sharp though...

i got it at a local photo fair for around 100$

i apply the same amount of sharpening to all samples from any lens i test (but i didn't start using sharpening until mid way through testing my lenses series) , settings of unsharp mask i use in gimphoto are radius 5,0 , amount 0,5 , threshold 0

How does it deal with purple fringing at 1.4?
I see none to very little in your samples, is it due to the processing?

i didn't encounter fringing , but that might be because it was cloudy when i took these
anyhow fringing is something i don't fix in processing,so if sample doesn't show it, there probably wasn't fringing

Yeah, it shows up mostly when in direct sunlight, when under the shade fringing is gone.
