Wonderful shots. I really like those pink lanterns.

The third is my favourite as well. Wonderful focus and composition and I like the contrast of the blue kimono against the pink blossoms.

Somewhere in Japan, and not Washington, DC, is my guess.

Oh. I just noticed your Wink

Thanks for comments (I'm blushing). I really like the 3rd shot but I wish I hadn't cut off her toes. It was a grab shot so I didn't have much time to compose. The best part of the photo is the decoration in her hair.

The place is Mishima Taisha (Mishima Grand Shrine) in Shizuoka, Japan.

I would have never imagined #3 as a candid street photo and not a staged model shoot. Kudos.

#3 is very niche , but why did you cut off her feet?

PostPosted: Mon May 09, 2011 7:37 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Thanks again guys.

I really didn't want to cut off her feet (I know it's a cardinal sin in photography). It was a candid shot. I just didn't have time to compose properly.

All the elements were there; nice girl in a kimono, cherry blossoms, lantern, girl looking to the side to show her cherry blossom hair decoration. And I cut off her feet. I'm still mad with myself Mad Wink I guess I'll have to try again next year Smile

I wouldn't worry about it. It's such a nice photo, I don't think most people will notice. Most people will be looking at her face (she really is quite lovely, isn't she?) and her kimono -- which is also quite strikingly beautiful -- anyway.
