I have this lens It's a good 1:2 macro lens (great color, detail and contrast), which can also serve to other purposes occasionally and portrait even. It is not very heavy, I like you do not need hood.
Direct JPG, no editing, neutral camera settings:

Yes, it is a very fine lens.
DOF is often tricky at close quarters.

Hey OH,
I'm curious. How did you fit a Canon lens onto a Nikon. _________________ Minolta MC Rokkor f1.4 50mm

Hey OH,
I'm curious. How did you fit a Canon lens onto a Nikon. |
There is an adapter to allow these.
Here:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Macro-Comfirm-Canon-FD-lens-to-Nikon-F-AI-mount-Adapter-/180800024742?pt=UK_Photography_CameraLenses_Lens_caps_hoods_adaptors_ET&hash=item2a188570a6
Since the lens is macro anyway, the adapter works as an extension tube.
Works quite well.

The FD 50/3.5 macro is a great lens, but I can't recommend it for model photography, unless your model wants the pores in her skin counted. Taken with a Canon F-1 on Kodachrome 64:
