I think this one take the cake for your best macro lens. The butterfly came out really nicely!

It may be the work PC that I'm using or the odd issue of pics being uploaded here, but those images don't look that sharp to me?

Lets see some infinity shots with crops when you have a chance.

Pictures linked from flick, no degradation by forum software for sure. I found most shoots require additional sharpening if I would see really sharp images in jpg.

focal plane is narrow. The in focus bits seem very sharp on my monitor Smile

Or even medium distance. I'd be interested in how it compares with my two 105mm in general use; Tamron and Komura.

On the rare occasion that I've used this lens for portrait work, due to its sharpness, I've always slapped a diffusion filter on it.

Well, those 'infinity samples' are actually more like 'near infinity', aren't they?

From my experience this lens is fabulous for macro and close focus work, but I don't like it much for landscape (infinity) shots.

no, they are taken at infinity, because infinity on this lens starts after 7 meters

people specially asked for these type of samples to see how this lens acts as mid-tele lens

When it taken at infinity, why the background of the first picture (with the red poppy) is out of focus?

What? It's obviously not at infinity. Nevertheless, it's a very sharp lens.

Here is a comparison done last August against the Nikkor 105/2.5 AI-S which shoots OK at infinity...

There was no PP done to the images...if I were to go back and sharpen them with USM,they would be much improved.

The first shots of the fence posts the sun was directly at my back... the last shots at 150 meters was almost into the sun, with the sun directly above the house....
