There aren't too many Hoya lenses around, and so i figured i'd put up some snaps. I'd have to say i'm really happy with its performance. All at f8 in dull shade except the last shot, when the sun came out
They actually look A LOT better on my pc than they do on here. They seem to to be upsized by the forums, and have lost some of their IQ
A Bokeh shot first off - nice and sharp too
Some pigeons at long distance - 25 metres / 80ft
Closer - 11 metres / 35ft and the sun came out for this one

Very nice, Pete! Good sharpness and I can't really detect any CA to speak of. _________________ Michael

Looks sharp and contasty. i see quite a lot of Hoya lenses on ebay and they alsways seem to go for very little, the 135mm seems pretty common but I've seen quite a few other lengths as well. Might have to pick one up after seeing these pics.
Did Hoya make these themselves or are they rebadged from another Jap maker? |

Tokina made these lenses but the glasses are made by Hoya.

Cheers Calvin. I've heard before that Hoya made good glass.
Anyone know if Hoya zoom lenses are any good? I see those all the time on ebay. |

Most people will go for the primes. I think both 3.5/25-42 and 4/28-85 are above average. _________________ https://lensfever.com/

I much prefer primes myself but there are some interesting hoya zooms on ebay from time to time such as 50-150 and 100-300, they go for peanuts. |

Yep. Looks like the 400mm version is pretty good, thanks for sharing Pete.
I found the 24/2.8 very good (although it vignettes on full frame), the 100-300/5 soft wide open but nicely sharp stopped down to f8 and the 300/5.6 is OK but nothing special. _________________ Graham - Moderator

I would love to see a database of lenses with details on their different properties, it would make shopping for old glass a LOT easier. |
