Fuji X100 - First Panorama Shot

I visited the Quinault River valley rainforest today, and let me tell you, it
was RAINING HARD the whole day. The forest was just a series of drips
and mists. However, that's actually "good weather" for shooting in the area,
because it intensifies the colors, especially the greens.

So anyway, here is my first ever panorama shot taken with the X100.
There was just a hint of sun trying to push through the clouds, so it gave
the mist itself a green hue. Shocked

The image is straight out of the camera. I did nothing except cut the size
of the original image by about half.

Oh yeah...I got WET today, and it was a cool 42 degrees. However my
boots kept my feet dry, which is a great feeling.

Click on the images to bring them up to size.

I'll have more tomorrow, but I'm going to perform a single somersault,
with a 180 degree twist, into bed. Laughing

the cam continues to impress. now is this pano feature one where you take multiple shots the cam the stitches together, or do you actually pan the cam during shutter release, or is it just 16x9 aspect ratio?

Thanks pich900 - With the rain and mist, and then some sun trying to
bore its way through the overhead cloud cover, the area turned into
a golden green color. It seemed like the air itself was that color. Shocked

Heya rbelyell: You go the shooting menu and pick "Pano Mode", then it gives
a choice of 120 degrees or 180 degrees. This image was at 120 degrees.

You just start your pan by hitting and releasing the shutter button, then it
takes over from there. You simply start your panning, not too slow, not too
fast. It will send a message to "try again (slower, faster)". It's easy to get
used to the speed you should use to pan with.

It shows a progress line at the bottom, so you can see when it has reached
the end of the pan and filled the image.

I cropped this image on the left side, where there were a bunch of sticks
and debris in the way. So...this is approximately a 100 degree pano.

Quite easy! I am surprised. You can hear the camera "working" while it
is stitching away.

Hey Irishman bazza59! It reminds me of being in a place where those
ubiquitous leprechauns might show up at any time. Cool

That's a good enough word for me! Laughing Of course, it's relatively easy in
this terrain. All you have to do is point just about anywhere, and shoot.

Thanks man! I think I might have a BIG problem though. I am at the other
house and using a different monitor, of course. This image (and a lot of
others taken with the X100) does NOT have that "big time" bright, vivid
green tone that came out of the original image.

Can you tell me if the image out of your monitor is bright and vivid green,
or is it dark and somber?

I knew there could be a difference in monitors, but this is a HUGE
difference. This monitor is a Dell 17-inch monitor, and the other one is an
Acer 24-inch monitor. Embarassed

FROM THIS MONITOR

APPROXIMATE RENDERING FROM OTHER MONITOR (ACER 24) GOING
BY WHAT I REMEMBER. THIS IS MORE LIKE WHAT THE CAMERA
CAPTURED

Well Bill, it IS actually a pretty nice camera. For some though, it might be
kind of limited. Especially street shooters who want high speed AF and
turn-on time. But for my landscape shooting, it's the cat's meow. Very Happy

Had to come back for another look on this last pic, lovely slide-like colors!

I think the two of you will make great music!

Would it be incorrect to state that I like both images? Truth be told, I even prefer the first one somewhat.
