This is just to test what the heck a Biotar would look like with HD video.

It's a bit jerky...and I struggled with the focus...but it certainly looks like a Biotar

NOTE: I've added all the videos I shot to this playlist. I think the subject is magnificent...but this posting is more about what the heck the Biotar looks like using full HD video

I think that jerky and unfocused can be accepted in a home video, where movements can not be planned.
The problem in my opinion is that you took it from above, so you only see the top of the hair.
When filming small animals or children the best thing is to always lower yourself to the same level of your subject.

Shocked It does look like a Biotar! I would like to see some garden shots if possible...flowers etc?

I've yet to shoot any video (mainly as my PC is old and cannot cope withthe huge files), but I feel I may be missing a trick.

well, you can perfectly see the swirl on that carpet. So the topshot angle was perfect for this purpose.

cheers

Does the Biotar also have a preset iris?

Agreed...I've added more videos that do just that. My thought for the top down one was to sort of see the head sort of pop in and out of the focus plane. And, I'm fascinated by my son's hair... Very Happy

Alas, these were shot literally right before I was packing up the camera to send back to lensrentals.com (great company, IMHO).

I've added more clips:

Alas, I can't post any snippets of the video shoot this was actually rented for...we used my Nikkor 105 "sonnar", my Minolta 58/1.2, C/Y Distagon 28/2.8, C/Y Planar 50/1.4, Zenitar 16mm Fisheye and more.
The Kickstarter trailer is here, tho' none of the shots that I worked on are in it:

Thanks, that was exactly my intent...it made me dizzy!

No, it's a 1948 manual iris, one of the chrome over brass heavy ones.
