Just won an eBay auction for a Tele-Takumar 300mm f/6.3 M42 lens.
From the limited information I did find on it, it seems to be a decent lens.
Anyone have any experience or own one? It was only $60 so I think I got an alright deal.
Will post sample pics from the lens and of the lens itself when it arrives. _________________ SLR - Canon XSi -> EF-S 18-55/3.5-5.6IS, EF 70-200/4L, EF 50/1.8, M42 Mir 1v 37/2.8, Tele-Takumar 300/6.3, Five Star 500/8

I have the lens, and will actually be sending it to CarbonR within
this year, since I am getting another more "minty" model from a
friend soon.
I actually think this lens is quite nice. Contrast is truly fine, and with
a tripod it is quite sharp. I guess it's typical of the Pentax lenses
of the era for its consistent sharpness.
The price was certainly right, and you don't always have to have
a huge light-gathering f:4 at 300mm to make very good images.
Looking on various pricing sites, the lens can go from $25 to $100.
I think you are going to be pleased with it. I'll try to find my images,
but I do remember them being right up there as good as my
more "modern" Vivitar Series 1 300mm.
It is a lens that needs to be used, and to have fun with. As always,
the bokeh with a lens of this nature is just wonderful, in my opinion.
And, of course, GREAT in a sunny situation for people shots or
wildlife shots, or even flower shots.
Edit: Found my post on the 300/6.3

Got it in the mail a couple days ago. The Weather has been not so good though so I've only had a chance to get a couple pics of the lens.
Mint condition! Came with the case, plastic bag and everything original.
Will get some sample shots today and post them tonight.
Until then... here's the Lens.

The lens looks nice, well-made and interesting - looking forward to see images, maybe comparing it with a common 5.6/300mm lens?

Iirc that's about what I paid in 2011. That one got sold. You got good price imho -- I paid $28 BIN on eBay last August for one without tripod mount and case, but with both caps & hood.
Best 300/6.3 I tried, including Vivitar, Tokina, & Soligor which flared way too easily. _________________ ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮ like attracts like! ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮

Not if the Item price is under €22,- (will change from Juli first 2021).
This one is without hood are any caps. I have plenty of that stuff lying around, so I don't mind. _________________ pentaxian |

After cleaning it a bit (only front element and front of second element and the back of rear element) and replacing the thread damaged name ring with another one (Shameless Vivitar zoom) It seems to work. At first the front element was wedged in crooked so no infinity and everything unsharp. Applied some brute force to snap it in. Still not quite reaching infinity but far enough for most purposes for a long tele.
