I will contact Gerjan van Oosten, he might have more info now (when he wrote his book, he said he never saw any Takumar 100/2) Smile

Its a buy it now - for $4000 !

Well, thats a collectors price for a rare lens.

Can't see it being worth that sort of money...even to carbon R?!

I want it. But even if I had $4000, I have more important things to buy before a lens I would hardly use (I tend to use more 85mm lenses than 100/105mm). The price, even high, does not seem unreasonnable for me, as I knew no piece of evidence to prove it exists. Even Gerjan van Oosten say in his book that he never saw this lens, so this can clearly be considered as the rarest Takumar Wink

It definitely exists - and, there's more than one of them Wink I emailed Gerjan with these photos but didn't hear anything from him.

This one sold for 'only' €700.00 before Christmas Shocked

It was on Ebay ? If yes, I missed it, I would have bid for more than 700€ Shocked

I guess only presentation of the lens with some sample photos online would return that 700$ from advertising revenue Smile.

I thought I knew almost everything about Takumars, but I've never heard about a 100mm F2. Maybe at some point in time these were given away as relationship presents?

PostPosted: Wed Feb 02, 2011 10:00 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Gerjan does refer to it in his book, but only as something that might possibly exist. He'd never seen one, therefore could not confirm its actual existence Wink

Very very little is known about this particular lens, but what is known is that it's very very rare!!!

As a strange coincidence another one popped up yesterday:

I've lost all interest now that I know there are at least three of them in the world Rolling Eyes

Interesting that the serial numbers are all in the same range though: 1303584, 1303755 and 1303770.

Perhaps I can add to this thread since its one of the only threads around that discusses this lens.

When I saw it on the shop display, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.
Did Pentax even have a 100mm f2?
or was it 100mm f2.8 and my eyes were tired....
Naturally I did a search but turned up nothing (as well as this thread)

I just could not pass it up and paid for it.

Managed to try out the lens today with the kids during the usual park walk.
I think I'm blown away........
Now I know why those holdin gon to one wouldn't even think of selling it...

Edit : Hmm... the picture links don't seem to show.
Just in case, I've posed here as well:

Why didn't they produce more? With results like this it would have been a seller.

probably because the 85mm super tak f1.9 was just as good but faster and was automatic aperture. the 100 f2
is just a collectable item now, not something extremely filling a gap in usability.

welcome to the forum pinholecam!

this is amazing! as far as I know there only have been photos of two lenses ever seen on the net and you certainly are the only declared owner of this lens on the internet!!!

samples look much, much better than I had anticipated, a stellar lens, you are very lucky Smile

please show us more pics, specially also some showing us the lens itself!

thank you
