I am trying to clean the internal glass on a newly acquired Primoplan 58/1.9 and I am having problems with disassembling the front part of it. It seems pretty straightforward at first but I can't figure out how to remove the front nameplate. Any ideas? Thanks... |

You need this tool or sink stopper (plug) what has exact diameter and made from hard gum. _________________ -------------------------------

Yeah, that's the one thing that I still don't have. However, I look at the nameplate ring (it is actually a large conical part like in many macro lenses) and it looks like that thread on the filter ring above it is narrower and won't let the ring to come off. I guess it's just an optical illusion |

Update: I was right... The nameplate could only be removed with the front filter ring as a single item. After the small retaining screw on the inner side of the front ring is removed, the entire front part can be unscrewed, which gives the access to the front optical unit. Unscrew that one and you get straight to the diaphragm. The rear optical assembly can also be easily removed with a lens wrench so the diaphragm becomes accessible from both sides. |

It would be nice if you take photos from each steps and publish it here, I think some people will happy to read it and use it when need it. Many thanks in advance! _________________ -------------------------------

Sorry, I have already assembled it back. But it's easy, there is not much to show. If you look inside the lens from the front you'll see a tiny screw. Loosen it up, then grab the front part of the lens firmly (the filter ring) and unscrew it counter-clockwise. After that it's just a regular disassembly with a spanner wrench.
So the rubber tool was not necessary, but I have ordered it anyway
BTW, I've tried the lens and I think it's awesome! |

No problem, rubber tool is useful. I like this lens too pretty much, congrats for your new tool.

I have removed the small retaining screw on the inner side of the front ring but the front part can NOT be unscrewed. I have tried to unscrew it counter-clockwise firmly as i can.
My intention is to clean the diaphragm from excessively oiling.
What to do?
