Wonderful Sonnar bokeh + fantastic sharp lens, all shot @f2.8 wide open on Lumix GH1 (using the Metabones adaptor) - it's a ZEISS.

Amazing! What kind of adapter do you have ?

PostPosted: Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:39 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

The Metabones Contax-G to m4/3 adaptor, which has focusing built in. Expensive, but the best of all existing ones. See ebay Click here to see on Ebay

Cool lens congrats.

Btw i don't see the CA which are usually there for this lens at f2.8.
Have you reduced them in the software?

PostPosted: Tue Nov 30, 2010 7:56 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

nope, all directly from the cam, just resized.

Yep, that was an issue I had discussed with them. I got one where Lasjas had promised to have it tested working and my lock pin actually does lock teh lens in place. The focusing ring at first was a bit hard to use, but got better after some time.

Yes, but for a tele lens, full frame is not as important as for a wide.
And I have to say, that the image quality of these pictures is impressive. I have the Sonnar G, but I've never been able to make pictures so impressive with film, as Klaus did with this camera. I'm happy that I am broke at the moment, otherwise the temptation to get this camera and the adapter would be irresistible - and Klaus would have another bank account's death on his conscience! Laughing

And what would that have to do with my Contax G thread???? Is that a "kindergarden" here or what...

my comment is a reply to point that the m4:3 is not the only way to use Contax G lenses
the link I give show what can be done with Contax G lenses and more lenses on the Nex-5

It is about Arri lenses used on a Nex5. "Very related" to that thread here.

My intention was to show the performance of that 90mm Contax G lens on a Lumix GH1. It was not meant as an open invitation to talk about how to use lens x on body y, right?

About time for me to take a break I guess...

Taking a break is refreshing Smile
I feel lot better also after the break now.

The G lenses are nice .. i have to show some early samples from my G 2,8/28 Biogon i got from the mail yesturday.

Btw. What's with the 'cine lenses' subforum ?
I was wondering too where to put my samples .. in NEX section?

Yes, in fact this thread should not be in cine lenses (as the Sonnar G is not).
I will move it to a more appropriate forum.

EDIT: moved to Sony-NEX forum.

Yes, please move it. That is correct, a Contax G lens is no cine lens. Thanks.

Moved to Autofocus Corner.

nice images, really beautiful colour rendition

i just recently acquired the 90mm 2.8 and a Lumix DMC-GH2 almost in the same week, both 'previously loved'

whatever, both are un-familiar still, both are in learning-curve-space

i'm leaving them firmly attached to each other till further notice
