All photos below are at f/1.5 last two ones with ISO 1600 and the light source is lcd screen of a notebook. It's an another stunning lens and not much heavy to walk around Smile

stunning, bravo!

i have to say though, that ive seen images from this lens on cameras other than 5dII and they were not this high IQ; very good, but not these results. maybe i have not seen enough of a sampling...but i am very impressed by your images.

I really like the second one, as well as the third one. Is that a special color profile?

Amazing. You demonstrate the excellence of Helios 40. I love them all, especially #1 & #2. Mike

Stunning samples! That doesn't amaze me as the 5D is a FF camera and the lens was intended to be used on FF. So I would think that it performs better on FF than on APS-C or 4/3.

Thanks for sharing, although I would have liked bigger photos Smile

Those images are brilliant.

How easy is it to focus wide open using the viewfinder?

If you have any idea please let me know - thanks!
A step-up-ring ø 66-67 would be the best I think ....

Guys Alex (hk300) is making a step up ring soon for this very lens.
66-67 Very Happy

I need one also. Adapted one of the filters to work but it's not perfect.
Although now that I think of it. The 40-2 has a 67mm right?

helios 40-2 is 67mm filter size. I am waiting for 67mm filter hood I've bought from ebay.
brighter and larger viewfinder of mark II is an advantage focusing is not so hard, chance was near me Smile

Meaning you are not using AF confirm chip at all?

For those with the original Helios 40 with the 66mm filter you might try ordering a 67mm collapsable 3-stage rubber hood. These are available readily on ebay. Once you get it, remove the filter ring (the rubber hood is stretched over the filter ring and fits into a groove, they are rarely glued), and stretch the rubber hood over the lens barrel. I've been using mine that way for years and it works like a champ. Mine's never come off and while it doesn't offer any physical protection, it proves useful in reducing the flare this lens is so apt to show.
