according to Bjørn Rørslett´s site:

it´s an industrial lens, which doesn´t cover entire 35mm frame and short back focal distance is only 28,8mm for 1:4 magnification - so hardly usable for 35mm slr without modification and only for macrophotography _________________ equipment doesn´t count, good photographs do |

Please do not spread a sort of false information about those lenses,
the most of those lens covers 35mm full frame. The specification of
these lenses by NIKON do state only the central 8~12 mm circle is
covered, it does not mean the rest is black like the image by a circlular
fisheye lens. Nikon does NOT garantee their specification outside of
the central area (8~12 mm circle). Of course you can only use as a macro lens,
but you can use more than a couple of meter away, though I am not
sure wether the image is very sharp or not. I have some examples for this.
See RED BOOK NIKKOR site> http://homepage2.nifty.com/akiyanroom/redbook-e/index.html
For example my Ultra-Micro-Nikkor 55/2's full frame image with Nikon F6 + Fuji Reala:

Those prices for UMN lenses are skyrocketed due to RED BOOK NIKKOR's
popularity, before that the price was not so outrageous. I paid only $450
for mine at today infamous (high price) PHOTO ARSENAL in Germany. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.
