You can tell that the "lizard" is alive by its smudged chest area -- the thing had to breathe at least three times between first and the last shot. |

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. HDR images are composed from multiple images taken with different exposures. This particular one is composed from 7 images taken from -2 to +2 ev with 2/3 step.
And this is what +0ev image looks like, after some basic toning
