Some of you were doing reviews on on the Helios-44-XX lenses-I've had one copy o the Helios sitting on the shelf mounted on a Yashica TL, so I decided to take it down, and take it for a "swirl". I noticed an oily film on the inside edges of the elements, and took the outer elements out and cleaned it -with 50/50 Isoprophyl and distilled water.

Its more out of necessity, plus "I'm passionate about lenses"-like most people here ~ Very Happy -Thanks .

Here's some images of the lens-I bought mine on Ebay from an Canadian seller-along with some other lenses-2yrs ago. Looks like it could use another cleaning before I put it away Wink I would recommend this lens based on my experience with this lens.-Its built solid, color tone, sharp wide open-feels good in the hand. The aperture is like the preset Biotar -no clicks -you get accustomed to the no click easily ,and might come to like that feature.I know that its got to be a great feature to have for video on a DSLR. This lens benefits a lot in having a lens hood-I have mine on it most of the time.

Thanks for the photos they clear up an issue I have been having over which one to buy.
I notice the lens has the sunken front element, most Helios that I see on Oz ebay have the front element flat across....I would guess the sunken Helios is the one to get?

The 44M has the never one, more resolution.
44 has the "sunken" element and produces much more interesting photos.

I myself prefer the 44, because of the "sunken" first element, it has a "built in hood".

I never tire of seeing Helios images. Especially the ones that are shrp wide open.

I love my 44-2, but sadly my 5Dii doesn't. Thankfully the 44M range works. Laughing

I'm nearly always impressed by 44 images, but it shouldn't be surprising when you consider where the design comes from.

And you can still get these lenses for next to nothing Very Happy

Nowhere I can find trhe resolution power of the 44-3 (44-2 with MC and better resolution?).

It´s a good lens.
