Carl Meyer Videostigmat f1.0 1.5" (38mm)

Got this high speed lens and took it out for some shots this sunny evening... all shot fully open at f1.0.
Quite a "swirler" but still an impressive lens considering it being made 1954 (as read from the serial number,
which also indicates the maker being Bausch & Lomb. It was sold under the name of "Carl Meyer" by
Burke & James Photographic Co of Chicago). There are indications, that it might be a Plasmat type lens design.

Wow, 1.5"??? Is that a C-mount lens or 35mm film lens? I've never seen a 1.5" lens for C-mount... Would be great on NEX/APS-C

Yep, quite a fast c-mount lens for that focal length of 1 1/2" (38mm) indeed! Plus the added bonus of perfectly
fitting a c-mount adapter without any need for modification and perfect infinity match!

Hi Pascal,

indeed, tehj m4/3 cameras give you plenty of opportunities to mount such "exotic beauties". Try a Cook Kinic f1.9 25mm, it has a quite similar "look" and bokeh (I have threads about that lens here) although it is a Petzval lens design:

This lens is much easier to find. get tha later shiny aluminum version with coated lenses.

Again a beautiful serie, what I like is the ability of this lens to produce a sharp image (in the centre), with great contrast/colours and with a very interesting bokeh, all that together and wide open ....
Did you also try this lens a little bit stop down and for "portrait"???

The park images before have some stopped down shots also (to f2.8-4) as the lens is so fast that at ISO100 all would have been overexposed.

Very nice set of flowers shot.
These kino lenses seem to give a sort of vertigo effect. Quite appropriate for the subject I would say,
