Please help me to decide which one to chose for my Nikon D200. I am looking for the lens with corner to corner sharpness wide angle glass.
After a lot of research including 16-9.net comparison, I was looking for Contax 28mm f2.8 and with leitax adapter the cost is around $500. I can get used ZF 28mm f2 for $800. I cannot judge on which way should I go.
I want to used it for landscape.

Thanks

Contax 28mm f/2.8 is sharp from corner to corner. MM version is far better than AE(especially high serial no). If you want to use lens for close focus and low light than go for 28/2. For landscape and photography where corner-corner sharpness is important go for 28/2.8.

ZF 28mm f2 for 800$

$500 is too much for a Distagon 28/2.8. $300-350 is the current normal price.

How is ZF 28mm f2 compare to C/Y 28mm f2.8 @ f8 and f11? I am not planning to use it for close focus subjects.

Thanks

Why you dont try Zuiko 28/3.5, it will not give you many satuation but it's very cheap (~50$) and very shape.

That's still a lot. You should be able to get it for a bit over $400 together (depending on the shipping costs mostly).

C/Y Distagon 28/2.8 is $350+shipping is $40(to where I live now)
Leitax is 110 Euro = $142 (it includes Dandelion chip)
Final cost is even overshoot $500....

Actually, the 28/2.8 Zuiko (just "Zuiko", not "G.Zuiko") is almost as good as the Zeiss, for a fraction of the cost. Not quite as contrasty, but almost as sharp as the Distagon.

As much as I admire Contax 28/2.8 I must say ZF 28/2. Two reasons: 1) faster maximum aperture=more versatile; 2) You can produce interesting shots because of its close focusing distance and fast aperture. I believe the sharpness of both lenses is about the same.

at f/2.8 is sharper in corners than distagon ae. at f/4 is sharper in far corners. in center distagon is much sharper.
but MM distagon at f/2.8 is sharper than zuiko at any aperture(maybe at f/5.6-8 zuiko is sharper in far corners)
there is a lot difference between ae/mm; mm have less vignietting and it`s much sharper in corners

The ZF focuses only 1cm closer than the Contax (24cm vs 25cm), but the ZF should be sharper at that distance because it has floating elements. I agree f/2 makes a more versatile lens, but I think that the ZF28/2 is not the most interesting Zeiss in terms of image rendering. The ZF 35/2 is more spectacular and less expensive (when bought new anyway).

Ah yes, for Nikon it is perhaps better to have the chip. For Canon it is not so important because metering always works.
