Up, Up and Away!

For the first time ever, I attended a hot air balloon event.
It was extremely cool to be so close to the beautiful things,
watching them inflate and lift off. The roar of the burners
as they heated the air was quite impressive, and the precise
choreography required to inflate and launch so many from a
relatively small area was a sight to behold. Weather probably
could not have been more perfect, either.

It's actually a competition event, though I don't know anything
more about the nature of the activities. I hope you'll enjoy
viewing these pics as much as I enjoyed capturing them.
This event gave me a good opportunity to finally get some
good use out of my Sigma 10-20 and Canon 28-135 lenses.

From 7 to 8 PM, dozens were inflated and launched:

And at twilight, the "glow" event. Kept on the ground,
the balloons are inflated and glow like light bulbs
as the burners are fired:
