I looked around the site & think this is the correct "room" for this but if not, please correct it admin.

Although I have been here a very short while I get the impression many members have the same lenses. So, I was thinking it may be fun to start a thread for a particular lens or the variants of it. Since I am a new owner of a Helios 44-2, I will post two pics & hope others with Helios 44-** will do the same.

I know we may be reluctant to post a pic of ours in someone else's thread with the same lens so this is an opportunity to have a compendium of pics from the same lens for all to enjoy.

I will start with two from today with my Helios 44-2.

Great idea. This is one of my favorite things on the Pentax forums. I'll play although they are video grabs.....

Hope others chime in here.

Sorry to disrupt the thread, since I don't have any pics.. How does the Helios 44 compare to the nifty fifty? I know the bokeh is awesome, what about sharpness and colors compared to the nifty?

Very nice folks. I hope to be able to add some action shots today.

I've shared this one before, but it remains a favorite of my 44-2 pictures. Someday I hope to have other than lizzards and squirrels to pose.

On another note, many of you have had more than one Helios 44-X. Which one was your favourite? I must say I quite like my 44-M more than the 44-2 I had before. Feels even more rock solid, built like a tank.

I've purchased a 44M-7 and look forward to comparing it to the 44-2.

I only have the 44M and it IS built like a tank. Accidently dropped it on concrete during a shoot, picked it up, and aside from a scuff mark worked perfectly. The focussing on mine isn't what you'd call "smooth" but more "industrial" and utilitarian I guess? Anyway, great lens and great thread.

Well I got out to take some action shots today, took 5 lenses & only used the 44-2. It was training dogs to jump off a dock & my shutter speed was a bit too slow it would seem. I had the ISO @ 400 & f8 to maximize the DOF since the subjects were traveling towards me. I am not experienced in action shots so this was a learning experience for me - up the ISO more. I have some good single shots but this is the best series I got.

BTW, I was using a CPL to reduce glare.

My 44-M is a good all-rounder, and is very good on the old Canon 10D,

but on the Pentax K10D I much prefer the 44-K, just for the extra facility of pre stopdown metering with the lever.

This is a quick one from the other day, it has been raining and everything looked so fresh, I thought I would see what this lens can do.
