One of my favorite lenses from my collection. Takumar 100mm F4 1:2 macro. This shot taken wide open. I've included original version + 100% crop so the details can be seen. Plants were moving slightly due to small breeze.

Cropped

Last week I got an SMC Pentax M 4/100 macro, I think it`s nearly the same lens.
Until now Iam still very happy with it´s usage and IQ.

Here is a sample from my lens:

The Takumar is a great performer as you've shown - it's one I sometimes use as an all-round lens too Wink

Those samples of the dandelion are very nice and sharp. Were those wide open? I think you are right, they are almost the same lens, just yours is a number of years newer. Definitely a nice lens for the money.

I believe it was F8 to have more DOF.
