Luck has nothing to do with it. At this point it's about the number of listings you scan, ability to identify lenses based on a poor photos/insufficient info, ability to valuate on the spot, willingness to take a risk, and budget. |
Can't add anything to that, except the old saying "all comes to him who can wait" !!! _________________ Klaus - Admin

Oops, it was Vivitar Ser.I 70-210/f2,8 with Konica mount, purchased from the same lot, but the price was $15. Minolta has Minolta mount. |

These microscope objectives could have a list price of in the 5 digits range, so if I paid less than $10 for them, that is a real bargain, isn't it? And the two Leitz ones seem quite rare, too.

I borrowed a piece of technical paper for a 40X objective with a list price I saw on *bay FYI. What photo lens will provide such a detailed information for their products? It is not easy to use these optics properly. One may need a degree to operate a high end microscope. I bought them just to satisfy my curiosity. The infinity corrected Zeiss 60x M19 one has a NA number of 0.95! That is aprroching resolutions' theoritical limit. And just for $3.5 IIRC.

A bargain I think.
You have three fantastic lenses for the C330.
The 105 has a depth of field preview of sorts, with an aperture in the viewing lens.
Well done

I hadn't noticed the D
Still - a very good lens though and what a great kit altogether.
If you can find a 55mm you will have a great landscape lens as well

I suppose this has to be my best photo bargain. Was staring at me from the recycle room floor. Sample photos taken with Sony A7 at f:1.8 and auto ISO (1000-3200).
Probably the best bargains I've paid for are the Rodenstock Heligon 50mm/1.9 I got with non-functioning Kodak Retina Reflex for around $75. Are the sky-high prices I'm seeing for the Heligon 50/1.9s on Ebay real?
Then there's the functioning Aires Viscount rangefinder with the Tomioka-made Coral 45mm/1.9 lens bought for about $5. Probably the best-performing lens I have, and I have some that are top performers. Thinking about rigging it onto a mount for my Sony A7. |

It is a very sharp lens. I can read numbers and letters of about 1cm size 300-400 meters away with an eye-piece. I think it is a 2000mm+, F8 lens. It looks like a Maksutov-Cassegrin type of lens. [/quote]
Point it at the moon then and search for the Landing Module. |

Not really sure if it is a bargin but was strange enough to raise interest, I think it might be a Shackman custom built camera as I can't find a similar model anywhere, has a Linhof film back and a Shackman 51mm F1.9 lens attached which should hopefully turn out to be a dallmeyer lens. picked it up for $200

You lucky bastard! What mount is it?

Yes, but if that is postage to a country like the US or Canada, then I think that even 17 Euros for a 2kg package is reasonable. At least, compared to what the USPS charges these days. Yet they are still WAY cheaper than UPS, FedEx, or DHL. |
The <500g and <1kg options are way cheaper than any other option (especially for shipping outside the EU) but for parcels between 1kg & 2kg, the DHL "Päckchen" (max. 60x30x15cm & 2kg, 15.89€ without tracking, 19.09€ with tracking & insurance up to 50€) is a better option.
The <2kg "Maxibrief" only makes sense if you really need the insurance. _________________ Sony: A7 | Samyang FE 35/2.8 | Sony FE 85/1.8
