Took it apart to clean it and relube it as the focus action was getting very stiff.

Well I've done that now but I can't seem to put it back together. Are there any tips? I can't seem to get the focus aligned with the main lens elements into the barrel.

Did you separate the helicoil? If so did you mark where the thread starts? It's a multi-thread and there are many starting positions. It will take a lot of patience but you'll do it eventually.
