I should get it in a couple of days. I will share my test photos. I expect to find a great lens, based on what I have seen from Michael, Carsten, Ballu and the others who have it. _________________ Orio, Administrator

This is a very nice lens, Attila! I agree, it is a "must have" for MF enthusiasts.
Advantages?
Pretty fast (f2.8 ), pretty sharp (very sharp at f8 ), pleasant colour rendering, solid built, great FoV, fisheye distortions can be compensated by post-production well
Disadvantages?
Well, if you don't like fisheye effects or if you don't like to do some post-production, do not buy this lens, sometimes infinity focus problems at f2.8. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

Katzer, these two lenses were the only time when I did not really look at the price tag when I bought them, since there are no real alternatives (or rather only extremely expensive ones)!
So, although I am normally closefisted, I bought both lenses ... and never have regretted it. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

Do you use the Zenitar on the crop body? |
Since it has an M42-mount, I can use it at my Zenit EM, my EOS 350D (and probably, but never tried, at my EOS500 and my Ricoh KR-10x).
I like the results at both a film body and crop body, although they are,of course, different. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

The Zenitar was one of my first mf-lens. I like the character of the results very much even with a crop camera. But the difference to the focal length of the standard kit-lens is not so much. I think it's more fun using it together with full frame, film or digital.
An example of the different angle of vision (outer frame: 5D, inner frame: 350D):

Yes, I'm sure You can read about it thousand times but it's envisioned only if you "see" it this way.

In fact it's impressive to see the crop described visually. And this is only the 1.6x APS crop, so think about the 2x crop of the 4/3rds system. _________________ Orio, Administrator

You know, I have never shot the same picture on film and with my 350D using the Zenitar, so I could not compare... _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!
