Thanks Guido.
I admit it: shameless luck. I can't take merit for the focusing. I quickly adjusted it but really just hit it luckily.
Even the slight motion blur on the tips of wings ended up perfect, not too much and not too little.

What is impressive for me is that the pidgeon was flying at 30 mt altitude. I was on the highwalk of the castle, and the tower is tall 30 mt. The bird was landing on the roof of the tower. I didn't think that pidgeons could fly that high.

One cute thing to notice is how it presses its legs against the body to obtain the most aerodynamic position. It's not exactly slim (I think we could say it's quite a fat bird), yet it manages to fly without any problem.
Nature is really amazing, even in the most everyday animals such as the pigeons.

Yes indeed, great shot, Orio! Wink
I'm sure you used a filter of some sort not only for effects, but protection from an accidental "white-out" from the bird! Laughing

The one thing I forgot to comment on is the kinetic energy in this pic:
the blurred wingtips of the bird...nice. Cool

Yes, I had luck Smile
One thing that impresses me, is how majestic a pidgeon can look because of the tele lens, which makes it look bigger than life, if it was dark brown I'd say it could be a really big predator bird!

Orio, do you have peregrine falcons in Italy? I would think you do, particularly on the coast where there's cliffs. They are truly the king of
birds as they can knock any other bird out of the sky! I used to watch
them hunt ducks in my native northern Idaho on Lake Pend Oreille.
Fantastic to see through binoculars, the cloudburst of feathers when they
hit their prey, the killed duck floating on the water as they lazily spiral down to feast upon it, right on the water! Surprised

Fantastic! I've never seen Falcons where I live, but we see Red Kites here every day. Not very good pictures because the birds were so high. I want to catch a chance to get a better picture soon.

Yup, that's the one from what I can tell. They have very narrow scythe-like wings as opposed to hawks, and they can spiral up and become a
dot incredibly fast! The swifts are the only birds that compare to them
in speed.
