Thats right, a very early Tamron, but not the earliest.
I have a couple of these.
Its a Tamron model 680 from @1962 as per the Adaptall site.
It is one of the earliest T-mount lenses also, but again not the earliest.
Tamrons first product from 1958 in fact was a 4.5/135 with matched TC, called variously a "Converto-Tamron", also a "Twin-tele". This 2.8/135 is a later variant of the same idea.
The price is way too high btw. Look for this thing under $30. Not a very common lens, but I wouldn't call it rare. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

From the same official site, the earliest lens is the 135mm F/4.5 (Model: # 280) released in 1958

Curiously, the early 4.5/135 "Converto" (etc.) is way more common than the 2.8/135 version.
And though I have seen (and have) the 4.5/135 in various distributors brands (including all-alu finish types), I have never seen the 2.8/135 kit with TC as anything but a Tamron. The base 135 lens was also sold as a Soligor though (I have one too). _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

Did Tamron somehow market the convertos as an alternative to zooms?
BTW did you look at the other stuff on "Crazy Mama's Bits and Pieces", I wonder if they give you discount if buy something else too. _________________ MF: Kodak DCS SLR/c; Samsung NX10; OM-10; Canon T50

The early tamron lens may sold at low price since it was the first lens they ever made. So, they will be more common? |
