Hi!

Since I am so amazed by my Soligor 70-220, I bought a Soligor C/D Zoom+Macro 3.8-5.3/35-200 MC (Nikon mount) for a good price in fine condition.

Yesterday, I decided to finish work early and walked around in Marburg, a city close by. Just with two lenses: a MIR-1B and this Soligor 35-200.

I did not expect too much from it, since I had in mind that it what they call a "megazoom". From 35 to 200mm. Now, what can you expect from a lens like that?

Well...that's what it gave to me:

There is some tendency to show CAs in extreme contrast situations, but then it is a 35-200 zoom lens!

Actually, I did not use the MIR-1B yesterday...

Have a look here: http://forum.mflenses.com/viewtopic.php?p=1855#1855 to see some "finished work" shot with the Soligor 35-200.

The definition seems brilliant for a zoom.
There is some heavy purple CA in the last shot, but I never found a zoom so far without CA (although I never tried a vario-sonnar or vario-elmar).

Yes, that's why I uploaded this picture. To show the CAs.
But as I said, it is a 35-200mm zoom lens. A picture in this situation (sun directly from the front/top, as you can see on the bench and the top of the dustbin) without CA would have been a pure miracle!

Actually, the CAs are pretty thin for a zoom lens like that, aren't they?

Yes, it handled it pretty well. There are more expensive lenses which have would done worse for sure.

Excelent color rendition. I didn't expect to be so sharp even if a CD lens, but it is. It's a keeper, no doubt.
