Maybe, though, there are hidden treasures from China? In the 1980s, no-one wanted cheap Russian lenses for instance... I've been wondering whether this would be an interesting read:

Oh it's only a matter of time, more sooner than later, they will.
By the way, China is already producing sophisticated electronic objects, and I bet cameras too, but you don't see Chinese brands in Western shops because their factories broker for foreign companies (Japanese, Korean, who knows perhaps also USA). _________________ Orio, Administrator

There are home-grown Chinese camera makers, but I guess we don't hear about them much in the west, similar to the way Eastern bloc cameras weren't as well known in the States during the cold war. I worked recently with a guy from Pakistan who'd been given a Chinese camera by a relative back home - I think it was called a Toma.
Pentax have been involved in China for quite some time. There's a version of the K1000 that was (is?) made in China, and I read they've recently opened a subsidiary company in Shanghai. |

What I heard from Seagull that is wasn't nice at all. Why expect they could make better camera than other tools ? Don't compare with Russians from many reason. _________________ -------------------------------
