Ain't Precisely Sharp is what I remember from the late 1990s when I tested a Canon Ixus X-1 APS compact for a photo magazine. It had a fixed 23mm lens (29mm equivalent on 35mm SLR) f/4.8 lens and was designed for water sports/underwater (max 7m) photography. Film grain was dissatisfactory, in my opinion not good for printing anything larger than postcards. I managed to get some nice snaps with it but quality was nowhere near what I got with renting Nikonos 35mm gear at the time.

Here are some APS film scans I have uploaded. The magazine shots are in my film archives, too difficult to find I think... they were from 1998 or 1999 I think.

edit: Found the Ixus X-1, it has a partially exposed film in it. That was in the days when camera testers could keep the gear once article was published Laughing
