Measures ambient light, is a watch, timer, alarm clock, and thermometer.
Made in Germany which means it's smarter than I am. Laughing If it told me
to sell everything I own and move to the Himalayas and become a monk,
I would have to give it some serious thought. Wink

That's a damn nice watch. Temperature and ambient light readings! Does it light up too?

Can I have a glass of whatever you've been drinking? Laughing Laughing

I went down the Sekonic route with the L-358 & the L-208. I think my Canon meters better.

Thanks, guys, (Martin, haven't had a glass since last night).

No, it doesn't light up, but I pack a small flashlight with me for night
shots, anyway, to see film advance numbers, etc. I was thinking of
rigging it for a wristwatch, it is almost that small. Laughing

When I was thinking of getting a small meter to carry when using a meterless camera I was tied between the Gossen & the Sekonic Twinmate. They both get good reviews but one of the comments was the Gossen eats batteries. As the Sekonic came up at the right price I went for that. I already had the L-358 but you have to change bits to go from reflected to incident which is a madness.

My skill with them is not that great yet.

It's indeed a little nice piece of equipment. I own its bro, the digiflash, which is even capable of flash reading. I can say it's is a reliable unit, does even incident metering and fits in my trousers front pocket or the shirt one. I have only one complain: the battery life. There is no power switch, so the display it's always on. Even if kept unused in its pouch the battery lasts less than a year, I thus advice removing the battery when you're not foresee to use it in a while.

Cheers, Marty

I use the Sixticolor for WB - it's a peach. No battery, just a solar power.

The one thing I hear about the Digisix is it sux batteries, but they are
cheap on the 'bay. What got my vote is it is one of the best in low light
metering. I've always used reflected light measurements, which has been
my problem all along. Incident metering is far more accurate.

(Martin, careful now, Patrick will make you stand in the corner. lol)

I have a Calcu-Flash II by Quantum, but have lost the instructions I
printed out, and can't seem to find anywhere that has it. Quantum no
longer makes or supports such devices.

LMK, I found this one from a seller on Amazon for $99.

Any tip for using this light meter in the night would be appreciated.Sad
I have problem in the night shots with the digisix's measuring range 0-18 ev [iso100] .

This meter is very good but for night shots I would prefer this one... Cool

I have no battery problem for 2 years now. Rolling Eyes

magnet-2009, just got the Digisix, but there are 2 guys at NikonCafe
that swear by this meter for night shots, will check with them.

That is another nifty Gossen you have there, and takes an AA battery,
nice!

Ι would prefer to have the second one, I don't have it. My meter is the digisix and I like it. But for night shots it's a problem.

Ask Nikonians, but don't trust them.... Cool Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

And don't forget the contrast measurements.Wink

Contrast measurements
– Use the Function button to select the
function "EXPOSURE".
– Keep the measuring key M pressed down
and the meter will switch over to contrast
measurement. Continue holding down
the key to measure various other areas in
the subject. In the display, the difference
between the individual results of the
additional measurements and the first
measuring value will be indicated in EV.
A new metering will be made approx.
2 times a second.
After you have released the measuring key
M, the value of the first exposure measurement
will reappear
.
