I notice on this monitor that the "prints" are a tad too bright.
I scanned with the other computer (and an older monitor with it), and in spite of the fact that I often try to calibrate it, evidently it loses brightness. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Your Jupitor 36B looks quite sharp. Do you find it sharper on the P6 than on your digital camera? _________________ Bob

a 100% crop from the scan of second photo:

The scan was done at 1200 DPI, that is, 1/4er of the total possible optical resolution of my Epson scanner.
Even with that, this 100% crop corresponds to a real size print (for the whole image) of about 1mt.
If I scanned at 4800 DPI, I would have obtained a similar quality for a print 4 meters wide!!!
BTW the 100% scan is NOT sharpened, not even during scanning. And it's NOT treated for noise. It's the "pure" scan. _________________ Orio, Administrator

I mis-evaluated it the first time I tried it. Maybe lenses (and owners) have their "days" sometimes.
The lens is not as 100% as a Zeiss Sonnar could be, but it's a great lens and yes, when properly focused, it's terrific sharp.
About if sharper on P6 or digital, well, the answer is P6 - none of my digital cameras can get close to the resolving power of a 6x6 cm negative, when a good film is used.
But you will see it's very sharp on digital too - I have shot some samples for Attila's web site - I still have to develop them (too much work these days!) but you will see them soon. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Nice shots, Orio! I like the Melissa shot best, and the power line, etc,
is kinda unsettling in the first one, I know, can't be avoided. I just got
in some more Fujicolor 160 and 400 Pro and Fomapan in 100, 200, 400
ISO. Want to try out the 2nd Ricohflex I got in.

And I got a pack of 5 Velvia 50 rolls for a very good price.
This medium format thing has something magic to it. I have not exactly understood what it is yet, but it's there.
I'm eager to see other pictures from your medium format beasts, when is it that you will post some? _________________ Orio, Administrator

Orio,
Hope to post some pics in a few more days. Rick Oleson fixed my first
Ricohflex and is sending it back to me tomorrow. The recent one I got
(posted pics in the film section in the Ricohflex thread) has great seals
and the shutter works perfectly. Right now I'm trying to decide which
film to load in it!

ps looking at the Melissa pic again, what a shot! And the bokeh is great,
too! |
