Hi,

I am able to buy this extremely fast lens. First of all, do you guys have any clue how much it is worth?
Second, can I convert this lens to use on a Nikon body. I know the main issue is the fact that its focal point is very close to the rear of the lens. Could I extend this point further to the rear with an additional lens, such that it will reach my sensor?

Any thought would be appreciated!

Best wishes,
Kevin

Nikon J1 would suit it for sure.

A very nice doorstop it makes Kevin! Or alternatively
to weigh down letters and paper so it won't be blown
away.

I have a few of those types of lenses...

But its use is extremely limited due to the mentioned short back focal length.

Can you please refer to this saying when giving price quotations Klaus?
I am ready to offer some designer doorstops in exchange Smile.

All is always relative as Einstein said, and so is this topic too.

In the right hands these lenses can deliver astonishing results
that no other lens can, but for the average photographer it is
a doorstop. They are very highly specialized and for that (and
only that!) are lenses worth their money...

Why else would I have bought them??

Hard to use
extremly soft, maybe only good for black and white

Thanks for all the replies!
Quite clear Wink I'll skip this one.

Back to something more normal. Within a day or two a Tokina 70-220mm f3.5 should be delivered at my place. Looking forward to see what that beast can do.
