Could some one please give their opinion of this lens, i am thinking of buying it:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/M42-Schneider-Kreuznach-Edixa-Tele-Xenar-3-5-135-135mm_W0QQitemZ350250402836QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDE_Elektronik_Computer_Foto_Camcorder_Objektive_PM?hash=item518c8d0414&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I saw some picture posted a while back with a 135/3.5 Xenar here:

http://forum.mflenses.com/schneider-kreuznach-tele-xenar-135-and-czj-biotar-58-2-t8035,highlight,135+++xenar.html

And was wondering what version of the Xenar was used.

Is the eBay one a good deal??

It's a 60's lens.

The xenar 135 mm had two version : 4 and 5 elements.

The M42, kodak SRL mount, and oldiest version, have 4 elements. And the rollei and post versions have 5 elements. See http://www.taunusreiter.de/Cameras/Rollei_QBM_Schneider_dt.html

Schneider lenses are really good, pretty close to Leica and Zeiss glass.
But then €125,- are not cheap for a 3.5/135, even a good one.

Perhaps you want to try a ENNA München Tele-Ennalyt 3.5/135 (M42) first, because I am thinking about selling mine.
It feels like a plastic lens but it is a very good performer and I would give it away for only €25,- plus shipping.
If you're not satisfied with it, you can still go for a more expensive one. If you are satisfied with it (chances are high) then you have saved a lot of money for another lens. Wink

definetely not a good Deal.

If you are looking for a good and cheap 135mm, have a look at the russian J37, a russian TAIR 11 2.8/135mm or a Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 3.5/135mm.
They go for about 60-80 Euro on ebay and all of them are great lenses.

Cheers
Hinnerker

Thanks for the feedback guys,

Peter has just thrown a spanner in the works as i have just bought his Zeiss 80mm f/1.8 Pancolar.

I will have to be happy with my Pentacon 135/2.8 MC.
