Je, je; the other day just after I bought the helios 40 I found about the cyclop 85 1.5, this lens attached to 1st generation rusian night vision devices.
has the same optica as Helios 40-2, same tripod ring but no aperture.
There are several version, there is one 85 1.5 with the right M42 mount (the one I got), another 85 1.5 and a 85 1.2 quite useles because of the protounding part (I think you can tell the difernece between the right ones; the right one has the manufactures symbol, the cyclop inscription, the serial number and the 1.5/85 the other only the serial number and the 1.5/85)
I bought the complete device, cyclops-1. That is the lens, the night vision device and the IR lamp, all for 65 incluiding shipping. I just can wait to try it out, also bougth and adpater to fit the device in the camera(2.5+10 shipping), I will try some "Johny Rambo" shots Wink
So now I got 2 helios for 300, nice!!
Regards

I'd be interested to know about the adapter you got Javier (the one that allows you to use the night-vision unit on your camera). Also look forward to seeing your Cyclop, didn't know that there was a 1.4/85 so that would be a new one for me - and that second photo is of my lens!!! Hurray, it's famous Laughing

Looks great! Complete and in good shape, and definitely a good price!! Cool

Have you received it yet?

it is not 1.4, it is 1.5 like your lens, serial number beguins with 94. There are 1.2 and 1.5 versions which are not suitable for photography, you can tell for its shape and lens inscriptions.
The pictures from the lens I posted are not from my unit, I took the from the net. I will take some later, I am very short of free time.
Je, je, sorry for taking you picture Wink but as I said I am quite busy now
The adapter I got was this one on ebay, 200460755232 I sfound about it here http://www.combatradio.org.uk/h3t-1.htm
I do not have it yet but I can wait to take some Johny rambo like shots Wink
The lens and the night vision unit came in very good shape, almost mint.
The only bad thing is that focus is not set properly, I can focus from 60-80cm to around 5metres, I guess it can be adjusted but I do not really mind as I intend to use it for portraits and close-ups
Regards

The complete kit

some more pictures, against the helios 40

The helios 40 is much heavier, 300-400gr more

PD- I have just recieved the camera adapter, is the original one for the h3t-1, came with rusian invoice. Yesterday I tried the night vision device and works fine, I can wait to take some night vision shots Wink

I noticed that the web version does not say Cyclop on it, but instead has some Russian words... are they the same quality lens or different?

Wow, the rendering is so very cool, more dreamy than the 40-2. Nice shots Bro.

John: I've posted quite a bit about that strange lens. If you care to take a look, these are some of my shots:

I'll be interested in hearing your take on the lens and seeing what you do with it.

Yes! I am very familiar with you work! You are one of the main sources I found and turned to when exploring this lens.

You. Though anyone with pictures taken with the Cyclop contributed to my decision.

I love this lens, though my example has some haze inside. Sad

here is some examples from my testing.

Yegor: The lens comes apart very easily by removing the three screws on the barrel. You must move the focus all the way out to expose them, then can easily unscrew the rear element to clean inside. Hopefully your haze will be limited to what you can reach there - I haven't had the need to take the front apart yet.

Try looking for subjects where you can separate them easily and also consider interesting backgrounds not so close as to create busyness.
