Does anyone knows who manufacture this strange lens ?

Looks like a M42 lens (with separate A/M preset ring) but with a om mount

The size of the lens indicates an old design,
With the mc logo , i would guess for a 1972/1974 lens

ps : note the standard screw at the back of the lens : to scratch the mirror ???

I Never Never see such a lens

The markings look like those I have on a couple of Accura-brand lenses.
Also the way the M-A switch is arranged.

Voytek has some of these also.

But mine are YS-interchangable mount and this one looks like a fixed mount.

I am guessing Sankor as the maker.

Luis is right. Design of the lens is similar to newer version of accura and those lenses I believe are made by Sigma. I am not sure about older design which is different from any other lenses at the market - black, glossy finish and heavy metal body like this http://forum.mflenses.com/my-lenses-the-starangest-one-telelumax-then-others-t7693.html - look @ Luis and my posts about Accura-Diamatic 2.5/105 YS

After looking at the auction, I saw the name Uniphot on the front barrel. Found this text when I Googled Uniphot - the name seemed too much like a distributor's brand-name, but unfortunately there's no hint to whom the actual manufacturer was. I realise it's tripod-related, but I didn't want to edit it too much...

It's a very solid-looking lens though - and from reading comments at other fora, the quality may not be bad either Wink

"Fred Albu owned Camera Barn - a large camera store in NYC - and the Uniphot distribution company who, among other products, was the distributor for Hoya.

Uniphot has been out of business for about 25 to 30 years. The Tiltall went off the market when Uniphot was closed. The tools and trademark were for sale by the Uniphot trustees and after a few years was purchased by the Chinese company that makes and sells it today.

Under Uniphot several Star D tripods were sold and Star D also made tripods in the 50s as an independent company before Fred bought the company.

There is no sucessor company to Uniphot or Star D and neither has existed for 25+ years so parts would have to be made. A replacement tripod would be more cost effective then repairing."

My guess is Sigma, based on "left handed" focusing and distance scale in italic face. Compare it to some old Spiratones if you can find some images.

Sankor was a brand used I think by Nissin Optical Mfg., the early production of presets was very distinctive looking. You will find a lot of their production was cine lenses and anamorphic taking and projection lenses, also using the Sankor brand. The company is still around I think.

A lot of Sankor-made lenses are found in the Accura brand.

This is one of mine -

There are some more here -

I suspect Sankor because of the relationship with the Accura brand, of course that does not necessarily mean anything as you will also find Tokinas in that brand for instance. But its interesting that Sankor lenses disappeared when automatics came out, and suddenly we have these unknown lenses also Accuras. The YS mounts were adopted by a consortium, it may not only have been Sigma and Sun.

I looked at the auction and noted this one also has an "E" after the serial. It seems to be a distinguishing feature of this maker.

I think that photo below is a proofs that Sigma made Accura lenses. I don't believe that Accura made Sigma lenses Cool

and photo taken with this lens

I saw a Sankor branded automatic 28mm f-3.5 on E-Bay today. It looked much like this. Luis got it right.
