Lovely. I think you could make anything look good with any lense. Not to mean anything against this lense. _________________ Ron |

they often go for under $200!
particularly the most undesirable 1-cam version.
i've been wondering if i should spring for this... or a Contax Zeiss 135/2.8, or the CZJ Olympic Sonnar.. they all go for about the same price.
or will a Tair-11 suit me? |

I think only the last version will provide this wide open performance.
(while stopped down they could do much similar)
However I paid for my version (last version) 200 Euros
Not on Ebay though. From a local seller. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Yes, mine is last (third) version, serial number 3135367, built in 1981.
The first version is optically different.
Not sure about the second version (must check my book which I don't have at hand here). _________________ Orio, Administrator

The latest optical version of the lens was released in 1968 and begins with serial number 2193701. The body was updated again in 1976 (with both 55mm and series 7 filter threads) but is optically identical to the 1968 version. Happy hunting _________________ Yashica: 2.8/24

I can recommend the Leica pocket book by Erwin Puts for information of nearly all leica lenses for R, M and screwmount. Recalling the information about the Elmarit 135 I can confirm that there is no optical difference between 2nd and 3rd version. Only the body changed.
As far as I remember from the printed MTF-graphs there shouldn't be much difference between the 1st version and the other two. If you want more information about the lenses I can give you some additional details from the pocket book when I am at home.
BTW I am just waiting for a copy of the lens which should arrive this week - (3rd version, serial 31...) which I got for just 170EUR |
