Hi Folks,

This may not be the right place for the post, but I am interested to find more about these Zeiss "MIJ" lenses. Here's an example:

Carl Zeiss 75-300mm f4.5 zoom lens Canon EF mount

and more here:

I am interested to know if it will work in AF mode with my Canon 5D. How much backward compatible are EF lenses especially from third party makers?

Thx

I can't answer for the above, but I know that some Sigma AF work fine with film EOS but simply won't with Digi EOS. Problem is, the 3rd party makers have to backwards engineer the system and come up with a working lens independent of Canon to avoid any infringement nastiness from Canon. Sigma, for example, did offer an update on some older lenses to work with DSLRs, but I think that's long run out of time.
Afaik, there are many lenses which will work ok with both film and digi bodies, but offhand I can't say what they are specifically - my eye is totally off the ball with regard to AF lenses these days, save for the possibility of picking up a couple of them for the Pentax.
