which I know is many's favourite Wink
Here in full size to display what Zeiss can do to your photos Smile

(note this is hand-held and with subject in motion!)

Now imagine if this was taken with the new 5D which would mean 60% of image size more Shocked

P.S. this one is with "old" 5D and Sonnar 2.8/135

People thinks they have to spend fortune to get quality Zeiss lenses but this photograph is taken with a simple Contax Sonnar 2.8/135 which is a 150 Euros lens and sometimes you can find it for even less, I have seen recently in a shop a MM version (best version) copy of this lens on sale for only 100 Euros, the barrel was very brassed (not good looking) but the glasses were mint, perfect.

Wonderful smile you caught Orio.
I love these takes you get from these events.
The connection to the participants is so close.
This is thanks to the moments you choose.
It shows a real quality on your part. You can really capture the human element.
Truly a pleasure to see. It is on that same level that Larry captures our PSN wilds and Attila his wonderful animals.
I have a great reverence for such passion.
It is the point where photography becomes expression and very powerful.

Wow... I'm flattered, thanks Andy! Embarassed

I'm happy that you have pointed out one thing that is very important for me, the human factor.
I have great respect for what these people do and that is how I approach them.
They don't do it for money just for passion. Some figurants make even a thousand kms with their car to partecipate to these events.
Not to mention the money they spend on costumes, the time they spend on rehearsals, etc.
And nobody is (or wants to be) the star in these shows.
It is really a community effort where everyone gets their spot and everyone needs the others for the whole thing to succeed.
So I don't want to be the star either.
I don't try and don't care to show off. I keep it at the simplest level (a camera, a lens) and leave all the focus on the people.
I am aware of the risk of obtaining boring results and probably for many viewers my photos are such.
But for me it's more important to remain true.
I like the idea that perhaps thanks to my photos something of all this passion and happiness will remain in 100 years or so,
when our life will be probably much different from what it is now, and when these little town shows will probably disappear
like it has already begun to happen in the areas (for instance around Milan)
where the little towns have become suburbs of the big towns and lost their history and identity.
Something that will happen more and more, unfortunately.
I have just been told that a new highway will be made to allow a fast connection of this area (the estuary of river Po) with larger towns like Mantova and Verona.
This is one of the very few areas in the north of Italy that have remained relatively immune so far from the building speculations and the commercial centres,
it's an area where you can still walk around and see many country houses around the canals, and the streets are small and barely allow for one car to pass.
Now with the new highway everything will change.

Orio

As they say over here in the primitive vernacular:

"you de man".

You caught that girl's pleasure at what she was doing absolutely perfectly - the moment.

This is simply a tour de force in expressional human beauty.

The fact that you recognize and take advantage of the "simple"
human elements of expression, collaborates your precision as a photographer.

I have a feeling you show a calm and serious capacity in pursuing
these phenomenally difficult images.

The thought processes you use, obviously contribute to your ability to
use the tools of your camera and your brain synergystically, producing outcomes that are brilliant.

Nothing to do with kindness, Orio. Everything to do with truth. Smile

Wow! I'm way late on this one, but of course, a superb capture! Agree with
all above comments and love how the sun caught that one curled tress
across her mouth.
