Here is bunch of sample shots by Canon 50/1.2 L, it is a bit long.
I hope you will enjoy it. All with M8
@f1.2 you can see some "coma", generally not bad atl all
@f1.2 not a good shot, colour is off, I use Old Canonet's hood for this lens
@f5.6 enough sharpness, colour is accurate
@f1.2 or f1.4 not remember, I like to shoot at dusk (I like this shot )
@f5.6 or 8 (most likely 5.6, since I seldom close down to f8 ), hardly any distortion
@f5.6 Massey Hall (you know famous live recording was done here, if you are a jazz fan
see this > http://www.musthear.com/reviews/masseyhall.html)
This shot is not too sharp, the lens was slightly off at infinity, later I adjusted.
@f5.6 this theatre is owned by CANON CO. LTD (not a good shot, M8's frame is off)
@f1.2 it is fiarly sharp at least in centre, bokeh is smooth
@f5.6 it can shoot a hard stuff too
@f1.2 bokeh and some highlight
@f1.2 and much smoother bokeh
@f4 tonality is not bad at all (less contrast scene, misty and early morning)
@f1.2 worst case, a hint of swirling (old lens used to have this) bokeh
My conclusion: if you find one, get one (if you like RF shooting)
You can find it ~$200 at eBay, maybe less at local camera shops?
One day I will put up "how to fix front/rear focus problem" in this forum.
So do not hesitate to get one.
Good luck. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.

Wonderful shots Koji
I really like the first one it is quite charming.
The swirly bokeh I also like and find it refreshing and useful at times.
The performance from this lens is quite nice.
When you posted the comparison with the Hexar lens the other day I was confused.
For some reason I thought it was the Reflex version Canon 1.2/50 L
Thankyou for posting this .
My deigns on the much more expensive Hexar lens are evaporating _________________ Moderator |

Agree, wonderful shots! Gives a convincing argument to go after a Canon 7
or Canon P, or Andy's Epson RD1. A Leica M8 for some is but a dream. |

Yes, Andy.
BUT, the price is totally different. One of reasons is that includes
a genuine hood, which is rare and fetches $250 a new one.
The lens is rather fat and short (maybe the same thing).
If you don't mind slower one, 50/1.4L is good. 50/1.8L is
nice and cute (KAWAII in a new world wide fashionable word).
50/1.8L is very sharp and probably matches well with micro 4/3
body in future, though FoV becomes that of 100mm lens.
Those 50/0.95, 50/1.2, 50/1.4, and 50/1.8 are all good in their own ways,
any one of them makes you happy. Their construction is identical, very simple
and sturdy. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.
