I do not agree, Bill !
Here you have both very good detail and great bokeh. My Melissa pictures you are refering to, are really very standard telephoto photography, I don't think there is anything special there, or things that could not be done with any other good tele lens. The only real obstacle is the aperture, but by shooting at 400 ISO instead of 100 you would have obtained the same results easily with your Vivitar, which has both acutance and good bokeh.

No, there is a misunderstanding, what I mean is that if you were here, to photograph Melissa together with me, you could have done it with the Viv also, by raising the ISO to 400 (while I could shoot at 100 ISO thanks to the faster lens).
Since today's cameras have good 400 ISO, and there is also good noise software like Ninja, the aperture factor is not as decisive today as it was in the film age.
