Hi,

some month ago I bought a OM-2N but never used the cam until last week.

Here few images of a first film roll (cheap Kodak 200 ASA) with Zuiko 2.8/24mm and scanned with Nikon Coolscan 5000ED.

At first the cam

and here few pics

Wow...how do you get the photo without the grain?? Is it the lens, light, scanner or Camera??
#3 is about the closet to see some fine grain.

Hi Mo-Fo,

thanks for your comment.

It is the complete scan process, beginning with the Scanner (it´s a difference whether you scanned 35mm with a fladbed or for example with the Nikon) and thereafter a slight PP, with a litttttttttle bit noise reduction, few sharpening between the process steps, resizing, again sharpening etc.

Tried a long time to get this result whereby it is with new (modern) films easier than with the older, 30 or 40 years old ones.

You have to hasten because Nikon stopped the production unfortunately. Not easy to get it new. Or you have to look at *bay - but most often very expensive.

The Coolscans really give the goods for 35mm. Superb results all round,
Rolf!

That's my problem. If I buy a scanner for me, I want it to be able to scan medium format as well.
So, I don't know what to do. And thus I end up not buying any scanner.

But now that my old HP has passed away some days ago, I guess I will go for another one sooner or later.

Carsten, you can always buy a 9000 series Coolscan, but for what I see
these go for even used, your wife might kick you out of the house! Laughing

I'd love to find even the Coolscan V ED for a reasonable price. For 35mm
shots I care about, will either have them scanned by CVS or a small
studio that does hi-rez 5MP+ files.

Hi Cartsen,

that´s my problem too. I bought the 5000ED and the automatic slide feeder unit new 1 1/2 year ago because I own thousands of slides and films. I bought it never thought that I maybe own a medium size cam in the future.

Since I own the Rolleiflex I have the same dilemma. My old Epsin 3490 Photo doesn´t work with medium format. So selling the 5000 and buy a 9000 (few units seems to be new on the market available) or what should I do ?

I decided now to retain the 5000ED and will buy a Epson V600 or V700 for the medium size film. Seems that this is the best solution.

+1 Epson works beautifully with medium format slides.
