I haven't bought a lens in a while (because really I have enough lying around) but at 25€ I could not resist this little macro lens.

Will be taking the lens with me this afternoon so pictures to follow!

Front, it's the S.S.C. version

MFD is 23,2cm

At infinity

This is one of the very best 50-55/3.5 macro lenses that serves equally good from close focus to infinity.Great buy. Smile

Barely any PP needed

I don't think there was much change from the SSC 50/3.5 to the FDn 50/3.5, the FL has fewer elements then the 2 FD's(3/4 vs 4/6) but I believe the FL design was the starting point for the FD version.

Very nice photos.
How close do you have to hold the lens to the subject to get those shots?
I should buy a macro lens.

Cool mushrooms! Very Happy The monochrome variant was special Wink

PostPosted: Mon Nov 10, 2014 9:02 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

That depends, some of these mushrooms are rather big. Some had a diameter of 15-20cm. For those I was about half a meter away. For the smaller ones like 30cm? You don't really need a macro lens to shoot these. A 135mm would work just fine as well. Today I am going back to search for smaller kinds.

Great series !Karen you have a good eye for composition.
If you get a chance to buy/use the FD 35/2.8 Tilt/Shift, do try it, I'm sure you'll love it.

Thank you,
I have never used a tilt shift lens before, the prices of them always go so high.

I thought I had fixed the infinity issue with my adapter but still the lenses do not reach it. I'll have to buy a new one.

Still I want to share these

Thanks for the sharing, I'm already dealing with snow Sad

Yes T/S lenses are not cheap, nor compact, but the IQ from them is just breathtaking, I do have a few shots online with mine, it renders so smoothly and with such resolution. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lightshow-photography/tags/canonfdssc3528tiltshift/

Too bad about your adapter is there no way to remove any thickness/length from it? FD adapters should have a fairly simple connection between the adapter body and the mount for the lens, mine was too thin, which let the lenses focus past infinity, it was relitivly easy to shim it.
One shot I have online with my SSC 50/3.5 on my NEX-7

I already filed the adapter a bit, I can't take off more, it is already super tight now Razz

Images of the t/s are looking very good !

Thanks. Smile
There is this adapter, looks amazingly solid, but there is no way to shim should it be too thin.

So, you removed the mount off the adapter and filed some material away?
How many FD lenses do you have? if you have many, are they all too short of infinity? It's possible the lens was adjusted to reach infinity on a short adapter, Have you checked the adapter's thickness?

PostPosted: Tue Nov 11, 2014 7:12 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

My FD adapter is super cheap like all of my adapters
I was given some instructions by pdccameras http://forum.mflenses.com/sigma-mini-wide-ii-28mm-f2-8-t65782,highlight,%2Bsigma+%2Bmini.html
That is how I did it. I thought the problem was fixed but after some more testing my lenses still don't reach infinity. I have a lot of FD mount lenses so a new adapter is a must, it is on my wish list for christmas Very Happy

Ive been happy with the big_is adapters I've been using, no vignetting or reflection issues.

Just throwing these in quickly. It was snowing yesterday (already gone again today Sad) and I had some fun. All on a6000 and wide open.

Also, the photo I posted a couple of messages above, the one with the 2 figurines and the mushroom was chosen as one of the winners of a contest on phlearn. My first win of anything, supercool, haha. http://youtu.be/fwmidC9dcdo (my photo pops up at around 3:35)
