I just want to share some shots here from my recent trip to Bali.
My MF lenses have mainly been for 'local' use only as I feared my hit rate on MF would be dismal.
I could afford to loose shots locally as there would always be opportunities, but on a tour... I was apprehensive.
But I finally looked over my about 1.5yrs of using a 5D and A7 with only manual focus and picked up the courage to do it.

So the next thing where the lenses.
I wanted small, wide and very wide.
Had to have a f2,8 wide too in case I had a chance to shoot the Milky Way.
Also needed a walkabout lens that gave me that 'shallow DOF, isolating look" as well as for low light
A short tele too for portraits/candids and distant landscapes.
All this and they had to be small, well I did not mind 'smallish' too.

Camera choice was easy.
Sony A7.

So after much going back and forth, the decision was made.
CV12 - had to have it for the 12mm and attractive small size
Pentax K24/2.8 - small, pretty good performance, f2.8 when I needed it (certainly did not want another big wide lens in the bag too)
Pentax A50/1.4 - niffy fifty (decent size, good performance , f1.4)
Pentax K85/1.8 - I thought of the J9, Pentax M85/2 and FA77ltd. 77ltd, I used a lot, so I'd give another lens the chance. The other 2, I knew of their quirks, and wanted something more 'unbreakable' in optical performance. Hence the K85/1.8

again high quality photos, thank you for showing!

and I admit that they make me grave for a wide angle as wide as your CV12mm, and the A7 to go with it Wink

Thanks Kuuan, the CV12 is a nice lens, incredibly wide at 12mm FF and so small for that size.

Pls bear with me for the people/candid shots.
Just 3 more....

Ubud got a small town feel to it, that makes it attractive.
Part touristy, part local...

Great photos. Very nice place.
A7r is not as good in wide angles.

very good street photos which convey Bali life, or better life in Ubud, very well, thank you!

your photos, this time not the extreme wide angle but the performance of a very good f1.4/50, again make me long for a FF camera. still I wonder: did you do special corner treatment for your 12mm Heliar shots, and if so, how or how much?

cheers, andreas

Thanks, Kuuan

I got the A7 precisely for the FF (FOV, DOF) aspect that it would give over aps-c.

For the CV12, on the A7, it only got vignetting and in some situations a very light magenta cast at the corners.
I usually use a LR4 vignette control of about 40-50
The slight magenta cast, I often just leave it if its not very obvious.
Otherwise, I just use the brush tool in LR with a +5-6 yellow setting.

I also will use the brush tool to take care of any other vignetting that I think the vignette tool did not clean up.

Alternatively, if the shot is a exposure composite, I will use the +2ev layer and blend in the vignette area.

Thanks.
There were many possible options in the lens selection.
Canon FD20/2.8; Pentax FA43ltd; Canon FD100/2 being one of them.
Just a 3 lens kit and I know that 20mm is quite the all rounder UWA in most cases too (while the CV12 can be very wide and a bit specialized)
