I decided to create a week of images based on Brian Eno's "Oblique Strategies".

If you aren't aware of Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies, it's a deck of printed cards, created by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt, and first published in 1975. Each card offers an aphorism intended to help artists (particularly musicians) break creative blocks by encouraging lateral thinking."

I don't have any blocks but thought that it would be a good practice.

Day 1's card: "You can make only one dot at a time."

Day 2: "Make a blank valuable by putting it in an exquisite frame."

Beginning point:

My favorite from the session:

Day 3: "Disconnect from desire":

Starting point:

My fave:

Day 4: "Do something boring."
Starting point:

Favorite:

Day 5: "Into the impossible."
Starting point:

Couple of favorites:

UPDATE: My Oblique Strategies card of the day:
"Is the style right?"
.

I will continue for at least two more days. If people find it interesting, I'll share.
It's been quite fun and I went to some wonderfully strange places

Great images Mark, not just technically excellent - you're ahead of the game there, but they are interesting and artistic. It's easy to make abstract boring, your images aren't boring.

Definitely want to see more - I may just go get a set of these, as it can be hard to come up with inspiration at times.

Surprised Surprised Shocked I made a set of cards too for my brother back in the early 2000's based on this. How weird.

He asked me to do abstract shapes and things. I made montages of CG and photo images. I must have them backed up somewhere on one of the hundreds of discs I have.

I've never seen the originals and only made them based on a verbal brief of the oblique strategies. He seemed happy with them.

Yours are super, far better than mine. It would seem you have seen the Eno ones yourself. Have you?

Thanks for all the kind comments, everyone!
Today will be Day 7. The OS cards have been very effective. I need time to digest what I've discovered, them I may do more.

@barryreid, you can always use the on-line version:
