Hello,
Here are some snaps from the Heliar 12mm f5.6 on a Sony A7
the lens is the L39 version. This was a quick "morning" walk .the lens performs better on the A7 then on the nex 5
with witch I also tested-ed. The lens need a bit of getting used to but its a fun lens.

One nice thing about it is that you just put the lens at F8 focus at 1m and there you go all is in focus

Quality drops towards the frame corner, but there is no smearing.
We have to keep in mind this is a15mm lens.
This lens is crazy sharp along the 3/4 of the frame.
This means I can crop a few MP away, and be left with a 18mm equivalent around 24MP.
One issue is caused by the adapter. The built-in hood is not aligned correctly, and causes some vignetting in one (or more?) of the corners.
This lens is a bargain at this price point.
On the a7R it performs better than on the NEX-5N, I think.
See for yourself.
This was taken at f/8.

Wow! Nikos, I am seriously impressed by the quality you achieve with that combo.
Look at what my CV Heliar 4.5/15 produced on a Sony A7R:
That colour shift is too extreme to call it usable!
I also have the M39-version and it works flawlessly on the NEX-6 and the Fuj X-E1 as well as on the Leica M8!!
So, the lens is absolutely fine! _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

Those are rangefinder lenses and thus do not need to clear any mirror movement. Lenses like these can be designed almost symmetrically which prevents distortion. Ask Orio to show you some shots with the Orion-15 6/28, an almost completely symmetrical lens without any distortion whatsoever, or even more so the Hologon 15!! _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

Thank you Nikos for a nice and honest review. I really like those small CV lenses and some of them are really good, but I'll probably go for a SLR type super wide to get the most out of the IQ on A7R _________________ Lars | Manuellfokus.no |

BTW, this is the same view, shot with a Samyang 2.8/14 on the A7R:
No PP! The difference in the corners is striking!
I might sell my Samyang 2.8/14 (PK) soon. Well, as soon as the Samyang 2.8/10 (for APS) with FujiX-mount is available.
Perhaps you are interested? It's absolutely mint and works flawlessly! _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!
