I thought this was a great portrait but the white balance was bugging me Smile
It was shot with a Jupiter-11 Alu which can warm the image, add the early morning light and things can be difficult.
I think my first one is too correct so I tried a black and white.

Power had gone out, so I took advantage of the window light, but it was still very dark.

Rikenon 55mm f1.4, Canon Rebel XS.

I updated the picture recently to lighten the eyes, but I don't have access to it from work.

Gary,

I liked them, both.

It's nice when we don't expire the many possibilities of a picture in the, say, first edition!

Cheers,

Renato

I went on a hike with Tom Brew, one of the pioneers of online news and still innovating 20 years later. I was thinking about how we use various methods to isolate subjects in their frames -- shallow depth of field, nondescript background, etc. I liked the way the on-camera flash did the same with this image, although the shadows under the chin are a bit harsh.
